Welcome to our holiday home in the picturesque Oudega, in the middle of the Frisian lake district. Here you can enjoy peace, space and nature, directly on the water of the Oudegaester Brekken. Rent a boat and discover the idyllic sailing routes, paddle in the morning with our SUP across the quiet lake or practice your balance on the surfboard - with curious cows as spectators.
Oudega (or Aldegea in Frisian) is a hidden gem with historic houses, a charming harbour, two restaurants and a village shop full of regional products.
A short distance away you will find the lively Heeg, the cozy Sneek and the charming Workum. Sail relaxed to one of the Elfsteden towns, moor at a terrace on the water and enjoy a delicious lunch or a nice glass of wine.
Watervilla Oudega - comfort and nature on the water
Our charming house, completely renovated and extended in 2023, offers a perfect mix of modern comfort and authentic charm. Situated on an idyllic park with approx. 40 houses from the 70s, it feels like you are completely away from the world.
The villa is suitable for 6 people and has 3 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with spacious walk-in showers, a bath and a separate toilet.
The open kitchen is equipped with all modern conveniences and is adjacent to the cozy living room with an inviting sitting island, a large dining table for ten people and a cozy wood stove. Through the patio doors you step directly onto the terrace, where you can enjoy a barbecue in the evening with a breathtaking sunset.
On the upper floor there is a second living room with panoramic views over the lake and the boats in the harbour. Two large windows provide plenty of light and a cooling breeze in the summer. Outside, the spacious terrace offers various seating areas and a long dining table. The garden also consists of a large lawn and borders directly on a private jetty with its own mooring. Here you can go straight onto the water to sail, paddle board, surf or swim.
Thanks to its location on open water, beautiful trips on the Frisian lakes and ditches are possible. Heeg, Workum, Sneek and Bolsward are among the places that can be reached by boat, allowing you to optimally enjoy the surroundings and the watery landscape .

Water and nature
Oudega is located directly on the water of the Oudegaaster Brekken and is therefore ideal for water lovers. Rent a boat in Oudega and discover the (whisper) sailing routes, under the supervision of curious cows on the waterfront. Hikers can indulge themselves during a walk through the Pinepolder; a meadow bird area around the village, where you can spot the 'small three' in the spring: the black-tailed godwit, the lapwing and the redshank.
Village
There is also plenty to discover in the village. Think of the historic houses on the canals, small white bridges and a cozy harbor. The village has 2 restaurants and 1 village shop with good regional products. The neighboring villages are also worth a visit, such as the picturesque villages of Westhem and Blauwhuis and do not forget to admire the church of Sandfirden.
Beach
Just 50 metres away is a lovely beach at the Aldegaaster Brekken, where you can safely and easily walk into the water or take a refreshing dip. There is also a jetty with a ladder. For comfort, there are also showers, a toilet and changing rooms. Next to the beach you will find a lawn and a playground, ideal for the little ones to play.
Boat rental
Part of the park and the place in Oudega to rent a boat is Watersportbedrijf De Werff. Directly on the lake and in the middle of Oudega.
Rental of sloops, Valken, Lasers, Optimists, motorboats, canoes and SUPs for one or more days on Frisian lakes and ditches.
Tennis court
The park has a shared tennis court that you can make full use of.
Play a game of tennis, rackets and balls are provided.
Sneek
Sneek, heart of the Frisian lakes, is bustling with water life and cosiness. The historic city centre with its canals, boutiques and terraces invites you to stroll endlessly. Known from the Sneekweek, but lively and hospitable all year round. Discover the iconic Waterpoort, enjoy a boat trip or rent a boat yourself. Sneek combines culture, nature and atmosphere at its best.
Heeg
Heeg is a charming water sports village on the Heegermeer, ideal for sailors and those seeking peace and quiet. The atmosphere is relaxed, with cozy terraces on the water and a village center full of character. Formerly known for its eel fishing, now a popular place for nature lovers. From Heeg you can sail straight onto the Frisian lakes. Authentic, atmospheric and surprisingly versatile.
Workum
Workum is one of the eleven Frisian cities and breathes art, history and water. Visit the Jopie Huisman Museum or stroll through the streets full of old facades and art galleries. The IJsselmeer beach is nearby – perfect for a day of sun, wind and relaxation. Water sports and culture go hand in hand here. Workum is small, but big in charm.
Harlingen
Harlingen is a lively port city on the Wadden Sea, where maritime atmosphere and history come together. Stroll past centuries-old warehouses, pleasant squares and the impressive harbour. From here the ferries leave for Terschelling and Vlieland – the sea always beckons. Enjoy fresh fish, art and culture with a view of the water. Harlingen is pure, rugged and always in motion.
Who are we
Welcome to Oudega, Súdwest Fryslân! We are Alexandra and Sjoerd, living in Den Bosch (NL), parents of a now studying son and daughter. In 2020 we fell head over heels in love with a charming cottage in an idyllic spot in Friesland. Three years later, after a thorough renovation and extension, it became our dream home: an atmospheric, comfortable house with a breathtaking view and our boats at the jetty in the garden. We enjoy the wide views, the unspoiled nature and the free life on and by the water with the whole family. We love being able to share this special place with others and do everything we can to make your stay here as relaxing and unforgettable as possible.
